Larry Merl Jardine (1928 - 2011)

LOGAN - Larry Merl Jardine, 83, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, following a six-month valiant fight with leukemia.
Dad was born Oct. 4, 1928, the fourth child of Leo Joshua and Blanche Hedelius Jardine in Clarkston, Utah. He married his childhood sweetheart, Leora Thompson Jardine, on Dec. 5, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Dad started working with his father in the family's gas station and garage in Clarkston at the young age of 3. He learned a trade in the garage, mechanical business and many other skills he used throughout his life to provide for his family and help others in need. He could listen to a car run and tell you exactly what was wrong and knew how to fix it.
He enjoyed building and woodworking in his shop and helped many family members and friends build new homes.
Dad worked in the auto industry for several years, took five years off to work for Thiokol, then returned to work as the service manager for Axtell Chevrolet for 28 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a bishopric and other various church callings. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, hunting, four-wheeling and snowmobiling. He enjoyed supporting his children's and grandchildren's activities. His favorite pastimes were watching "Bonanza," "Gunsmoke," the Jazz and reading.
Dad and Mom were blessed with six children, Linda (Jim) Anderson, Judy (Jim) Jackson, Steven (Annie), Jerry (Shawna), Brad (Beckie) and Roger (RoxAnn) Jardine; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Dad is survived by one sister, Aileen Larson; and one brother, Raleigh (Grace) Jardine. He was preceded in death by his wife, LeOra; his parents; one sister, Burniece Hansen; and brother, Blaine Jardine.
We will miss our Sunday night get-togethers at Grandpa Popcorn's house for popcorn and soda.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the Logan 29th Ward chapel, 792 N. 500 East, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
