Of Winston, OR, passed away in a Eugene, OR, hospital. Born the eighth of eleven children born to Thomas Charles and Mollie Leona (Jones) Buckle. While stationed at an Army base in Texas he met Polly Reynolds. Ivan and Polly were married in Gorman, Texas, by Ivan’s brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Irene. They lived in Kellogg, Idaho, for twenty-one years before returning to Oregon where Ivan opened Buckle’s Body Shop and Buckle’s Walnut Orchard. Throughout his life, Ivan was devoted to his role as head of his family. His 59+ year marriage to Polly, his dedication to his daughters and his only grandson are evidence of this devotion. Ivan was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Polly Buckle; two daughters, Jane Chambers and Judy Buckle-Ganoe; a grandson, Ryan Chambers; three siblings, Betty Mae Fortune, Edwin Buckle, Harvey Buckle; and Kathy Saunders, a family friend as dear to him as his own daughters. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Taylor’s Family Chapel in Winston. Private interment will be at the Roseburg National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Ivan O. Buckle to the Riverside Center in Winston or the MS Society of Oregon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Taylor’s Family Mortuary, (541) 679-6983.
