William Carl Smith 81, New Palestine, passed away January 5, 2010. He was born on October 31, 1928 in Torrent, KY. Married Margaret Creech on November 10, 1956.
Carl was a machinist for over twenty years working for JC Wilson and Aircraft Contours and also worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for thirteen years. Carl served in the U. S. Army from 1948-1952. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the American Legion and attended United Methodist Church in New Palestine, IN.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joe Smith, Marie Holland, and Myrtle Lou Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty- three years, one daughter, three sons, thirteen grandchildren; and one great- grandchild; four brothers, and three sisters.
Calling will be held Friday January 8, 2010 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East. Funeral will be Saturday January 9, 2010 at 1 p.m., with calling from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hancock County Food Pantry.
