Mr. Grover Cleveland Shanks, Jr., age 88, of Crockett passed away July 1, 2015. He was born October 6, 1926 in Houston County to parents G.C. Shanks, Sr. and Margaret Baughman. Mr. Shanks bravely served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a Retired School Administrator, a member of the New Energy Church and of the Lathrop Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Shanks was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shanks; daughter, Ann Anderson; grandson a Alex Schulz; brothers, Paige Shanks (WWII-Germany), Elbert Shanks; and sister, Genevieve Gates.
Funeral services for Mr. Grover Cleveland Shanks, Jr. will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev Winston Coons and Rev. Richard Gillett officiating. Interment will follow in the Latexo Cemetery with Military Honors and a Masonic service.
