BREEDEN, Carroll Edward, 87, of Roanoke departed this life on Tuesday, May 2, 2000. He was a member, former lay leader and trustee of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. He also had served many years on the board of directors of the Rescue Mission. He retired from the Singer Company (Johnson/Carper) after 36 years, having risen from cost accountant to Vice President of the Case Goods Division. He was predeceased by his parents, Joel Vernon and Zaida Maiden Breeden, two brothers, Raymond L. Breeden and Maxwell P. Breeden and a sister Lois Breeden Ayers. Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Winifred Marshall Breeden (Winkie); a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca B. and Randolph Mastin; two grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jennings R. and Alice Breeden of New Milford, Connecticut; sister-in-law, Louisa H. Breeden.
