Mr. Murray was a lifelong resident of Muncie. After serving in France with the United States Army during World War I, he attended watchmaker's school at Bradley University and upon completion of his education, joined his father, James E. Murray, in the business which he had organized in 1885. A son, Donald S. Murray, is the present owner.
He was a member of Hazelwood Christian Church, Muncie Lodge 433, F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Delaware Post 19, American Legion, and Veterans of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bookout Murray; two sons, Cdr. Robert E. Murray, U.S. Navy retired, and Donald S. Murray, Muncie; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hendee, Muncie; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Robert G. Sulanke officiating. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday.
