Charles Geary Brooks, 79, of 100 1/2 State street, died at 10 p. m. Wednesday at Allen Memorial hospital.

He was born July 19, 1869, at Somerset, Pa., the son of Henry and Margaret Brooks. He came to Iowawith the family in 1880 and had lived in Watrloo since.

He was married in 1891 in Dewar, Ia., to Kate Gilbert, who preceded him in death Nov. 18, 1922. In 1924, he was married to Agnes Hoover, who preceded him in death in March, 1927. He was married to Mrs. Alice Gilson, Nov. 28, 1928. She survives him.

Other survivors are three sons, L. J. Brooks, 1700 Forest avenue; Claude C. Brooks, San Diego, Cal., and Gilbert Brooks, 1112 Leavitt street; two brothers, W. W. Brooks, Oklahoma City, Okla., and S. R. Brooks, 219 State street; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jacobson, Clear Lake, Ia.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A son and a daughter preceded him in death.

Brooks was a charter member of the Linden Methodist church.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Linden church with the Rev. Milton Nothdurft officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The body will be at the O'Keefe and Towne funeral home until 12:30 Saturday.
