Annie Mae Brown Russell was born March 23, 1912 to Albert Johnson Brown and Mary Elizabeth "Ellie" Mills Brown in Hardeman County, TN. Annie Mae married Horry Hodge Russell in the Pine Top community of Hardeman County, TN, on her 17th birthday, March 23, 1929. Horry and Annie Mae lived in Hardeman and McNairy counties in Tennessee before moving to Union County, Mississippi, in the 1940s. In the early 1950's they moved to Aurora, Illinios, and returned to Union County in the late 1950's.

Annie Mae died of a heart attack in New Albany, Union County, Mississippi, on June 13, 1985. She is buried beside Horry in Glenfield Memorial Cemetery, New Albany, Union County, MS.
