Charles O. Thompson, 87, of Chestnut Street died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Thompson worked at Reeves Pulley for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was a charter member of Berean Bible Church and a member of Heritage Baptist Church at Lakeland, Fla.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Jerry K. Day Sr., officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Berean Bible Church.

Born in Columbus Dec. 4, 1916, Mr. Thompson was the son of Garland and Helen Patterson Thompson. He married Mary K. Hayworth Aug. 6, 1938, at Columbus.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Joe D. Thompson of Los Alamos, N.M.; a daughter, Becky Yates of Norman; a brother, Robert Thompson of Columbus; a sister, Ruth Cox of Columbus; grandchildren, Keri Thompson of Silver Spring, Md., Benjamin Thompson of Shepherd, Mich., and Adam Yates and Heather Hundley, both of Seymour; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 10, 1995; a son, James Patrick Thompson; and a sister, Virginia Dietz.
