Funeral Services Sunday for 88-Year-Old Local Resident
Lemuel Acheson, one of Winterset's oldest residents, died at his home here last Thursday. He was 88 years of age.
Mr. Acheson was born at Corydon on July 9, 1857, the son of Mitchel and Sarah Achese(o)n. He came to Winterset at an early age and most of his life was spent here. He was a plasterer by trade.
He was married to Rena Gilpin, who preceded him in death. They were the parents of seven children, five of whom survive. They are William, Bert, Mary, James and Sol. He also leaves six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from Anderson's home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Source: Winterset Madisonian, Wednesday, 17 October 1945.
