Jay Dorson ABBOTT, 76, of Seneca, died early Saturday morning at Oconee Memorial Hospital after a few hours of illness. He was a son of the late John J and Eliza MAULDIN ABBOTT and was a native of Oconee county. Until his retirement 10 years ago, he was employed as a pipefitter. He was a member of Seneca Lodge 185, AFM, the Seneca American Legion Post and Shiloh Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Sallie TIMMS ABBOTT; two brothers, W W ABBOTT of Seneca and Lee ABBOTT of Spartanburg; two sisters, Mrs. Alex MAULDIN of Seneca and Mrs Kate DIETZ of Florida. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Brown Funeral Home by Rev F C Campbell. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Pallbearers were nephews.
