Benjamin C. Gibbons died at his home at Margaret, Mo. He is survived by his son, Ralph Gibbons, and his daughter Mrs. Henry Krause. Burial took place in Union Cemetery at Bland. Mr. Gibbons was born in Tennessee in 1845 and when he was 4 years old, came with his parents to MO and settled on what is now known as the old Judge C.M. Matthews farm near Owensville. He married Margaret Ann Burchard. Mrs. Gibbons had the honor of having a post office named after her, Margaret, of which post office she was postmistress until with the coming of rural routes the office was discontinued. Mrs. Gibbons preceded her husband in death in 1915.
B.C. Gibbons came to MO with his parents in 1851 and settled on a farm on Hibler Prairie. In 1861, he enlisted in the Union Army. He took part in the Battle of Vicksburg and was discharged from the service April 1, 1863. Mr. Gibbons moved to Red Bird, 10/4/1882, and engaged in the merchandise business about 31 years.
