Ray Brown Dies Today
Funeral services for RAY C. Brown, who died April 10 at Hodges Nursing home, will be conducted from the Martin Funeral home chapel Thursday, April 12, at 2p.m. with Rev. Mahlon Dixon officiating, assisted by Charles Shinault. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Friends may call by the Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Thursday. The casket will not be opened following the funeral.
Mr. Brown was born Nov. 20, 1887 in Summer, MO. He was 91. He attended Post School in Missouri and became a telegrapher when hew as 16 years of age. He came to this area in 1907 and was married to Ruby Redman Aug 8, 1923 at Wheeler, Tex. He was employed by the M.K.&T Railroad for several years. He operated a grocery store from 1926 until 1935, then he operated a farm south of Elk City until 1975, when he retired. He had been in ill health for the past year. He was a member of the Elk City Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, and 2 sons, Carl of Elk City and Fred L. of Baker, Mont.; also by 2 sisters, Mrs. Angeline Lockstone of Weatherford and Mrs. Albert Tubb of Tahlequah; also by 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
