He owned large soap manufactories at West Bromwich and Liverpool. He produced 'Hudson's Dry Soap.' He was also a J.P. He lived at Bache Hall, Chester. He died at the Crown Hotel, Scarborough aged 71 yrs. He had suffered with angina pectoris. He was buried on the 11th August 1884.
