Our loving father, Carl Johnson Allan, age 92, of St. George, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 with family near him.

Carl was born August 17, 1919 in Logan, Utah to Marshall Maughan Allan and Eva Irene Johnson Allan.

Carl grew up in Salt Lake City and attended South High School. He joined the United States Coast Guard serving on the USS Taney. Carl was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The Taney was credited with fighting off a force of five enemy aircraft, apparently intending to destroy the Honolulu Power Plant.

Carl worked at P.I.E. for twenty-six 1/2 years as a dispatcher. Carl married Mary Roberta Ludwig on October 6, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved his family and golf.

His wife, Mary, preceded him in death; also brother Marshall M. Allan Jr., and sister Renee Allan Masich. Survivors include brothers Frank Allan, Norman G. Allan, his children Richard C. Allan, Randall L. Allan, Sherri Allan Riley, and Debra K. Allan Riddle. In addition his second wife Lila F. Charles Allan (Frankie), whom he married on October 9, 1999, and her children Hal F. Charles, Billie Lee Charles Kundysek, Greg B. Charles, Ten Lin Charles Goddard, and Jon C. Charles. Carl has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah, with a viewing at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will follow the services.
