Son of James Mack Henry Bourff and Louisa Jane Berry. He married Regina Altherr on January 19, 1946 in Elwood, IN. He served in the US Army during WWII and was the father of seven. Abe's family includes children, Becky Strong of Kokomo, Jeff (wife Pamela) Bourff of Zionsville, Trudy (husband Mike) Lewis of Elwood, Joe Bourff of Tipton, Jude (wife Dee) Bourff of Elwood, Maria Bourff of Syracuse, and Lorraine Bourff Johnson Kelich ; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
