Binghamton: 84, died on September 7, 2014 at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home. He is predeceased by his son Tim Auchinachie; brother in law Bernard Bomboy. He is survived by his wife Bette; daughters Deb Quelle and Wendy Miller; grandchildren Mollie Quelle, Ian Quelle, Erica Miller and Danny Miller; sister Joan Bomboy; brother and sister in law Robert E. Auchinachie and Ramona; five nephews and one niece. Sandy graduated from the University of Rochester in 1952 with a BS in Business. He then joined the army from 1952-1955 where he was an Operation Sergeant in the Medical Core in Fort Sam Houston, TX. He married Bette Allerton Clipp on December 31, 1955. In 1955, he joined the family business, Auchinachie & Sons, Inc. with his father A. Roy, Sr. He then opened the non-union shop, Auchinachie Plumbing Ltd. in 1966, which he ran until he retired in 1992. Sandy was very active in the community and was a member of the United Presbyterian Church for over 70 years and a Deacon for over 50 years; a member of the YMCA for over 70 years, the Binghamton Club for over 50 years, the Rotary Club, Jr. Chamber of Commerce, NYS Plumbing and Heating Association and the Scottish Society. He also enjoyed many activities which include fishing, bowling, snowmobiling, kayaking, swimming, exercising, canoeing and sailing. He especially enjoyed spending summers for over 25 years at his cottage at Oteyokwa Lake, where he was able to do many of the activities he so loved. Sandy was also very proud of his Scottish heritage and visited relatives in Scotland twice. He also always had a dog and loved them dearly and that love for dogs has been passed on to his children. Most of all, spending time with his family was his number one love. He took many family vacations over the years, from camping to a European cruise. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 4th at 11:00AM at the Untied Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango St, Binghamton with Rev. Kimberly Chastain officiating. A private burial will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Donations can be made in Sandy's name to the Binghamton YMCA, 61 Susquehanna St, Binghamton, NY 13901. Arrangements have been made by the Barber Memorial Home, Inc.
