In World War II, served as technical sergeant in the 80th Division of the Third U.S. Army, European theatre. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He worked for Neuhoff Packing Company, a division of Swift & Co. meats. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of TCU West, A. C. York Veterans Medical Center, Murfreesboro, TN.
Predeceased by father, Robert L. Baskette, Jr., mother, Sarah Elizabeth Norman Baskette, wife Mabel G. Baskette, and sisters Mildred Elizabeth Baskette and Sarah Gayle McCord.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta (Ike) Bradley; granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Bradley and Caroline Joy Bradley; brother, Roger Duval (Thetis) Baskette; and long time friend, Sue Hunt.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
