The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Tuesday, January 26, 1960

Mrs. Hilda E. LeValley, 60, 215 Rich Street, died at 3 p.m. Monday at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids where she had been a patient six days. She had been ill four months.

She was born in Howard City October 3, 1899, the daughter of Ferdinand and Marie Garbow Steinke, and was married to Fred LeValley at Howard City November 27, 1927. Mr. LeValley died in February of 1943.

Mrs. LeValley had lived in Ionia and had been a beauty operator 35 years. She had resided the past 30 years in her present home where she operated her own beauty shop. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church and Ladies Aid society. She was a member of the Blue Star Mothers and Business and Professional women's club of Ionia.

Surviving are a son, Richard LeValley of Ionia; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Fay of Lansing; four grandchildren (illegible)….Hacker of Ionia; and seven brothers, Fred Steinke of Muskegon, William of Grand Rapids, Herman of Minneapolis, Minn., Albert of Indian River, Rudolph of Midland, Arnold of Kalamazoo and Otto of Morley.

Funeral service will be held at St. Johns Lutheran church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Theodore Timler officiating. Interment will be at Balcom Cemetery. The family will be at Boynton funeral home Wednesday from 7 until 9:30 p.m. to receive friends. Contributions will be accepted at the funeral home for a memorial fund for St. Johns Lutheran church.

Funeral service for Mrs. Hilda E. LeValley, 60, 215 Rich Street, who died January 25 at 3 p.m. in Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids, was held Thursday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church, following prayer service at Boynton funeral home at 2 p.m. the Rev. Theodore Timler officiated and Mrs. Otto B. Ruehs was organist.

Interment was at Balcom cemetery. Bearers, nephews of Mrs. LeValley, were Albert Steinke, Walter Steinke, Vernon Steinke, Harold Steinke, Donald Steinke, and Donald Hacker.

Blue Star Mothers and Woman of the Moose attended in groups. Relatives and friends attended from Lansing, Birmingham, Alto, Grand Rapids, Lowell, Big Rapids, Morley, Howard City, Midland, Detroit, Kalamazoo, Muir, Portland, Lake Odessa, Belding, Flint, Indian River, and Toledo, Ohio.
