Last Rites Held Here for Mrs. Lotta Phipps

Mrs. Lotta Phipps passed away February 19, at Mason City. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Renwick Methodist church with Rev. C. E. Custer in charge.

Mrs. Donald McGowan and Mrs. Stanley McCurry sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Harl Gimer. Pallbearers were: George Latch, Alfred Martin, Mandus Nelson, Dr. W. H. Long, George Bell, and Fritz Britt. Burial was at Elmwood cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Beenen Funeral Service.

Lotta Agard Phipps, born October 24, 1879, at Goldfield, Iowa, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Agard. As a young woman, she taught in the rural schools of Wright County. On September 2, 1902, she married Walter Phipps at Goldfield. Her husband passed away September 6, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Phipps made their home in the Renwick community with a short time being spent in Canada. Mrs. Phipps united with the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield in 1896, and was active in the work of the Renwick Methodist church while living here. She passed away at Mason City, Iowa, February 19, 1954 at the age of 74 years. Three brothers and three sisters remain to mourn her departing: B. W. Agard, Woodinville, Wash; Jesse R. Agard, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Paul R. Agard, Saskatoon, Canada; Mrs. T. G. Nemmers, Hampton, Iowa, Mrs. Rose Pardun, Sarasota, Florida; and Mrs. Ward Richardson, Elmore, Minn.
