Marie, was taught the traditional duties of a wife and mother by her mother Nannie. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed sewing and being a wife and mother. Aug, 2, 1947 she married Floyd Deltonto who came from a large Italian family. Marie moved into Floyd's home with his parents and sister and took care of all of them until they grew old and passed away. She was always cheerful and hardworking. The Deltontos lived on a farm east of Pueblo in an area called Blende. They grew some crops on land they leased and their home stood on 1/2 acre. Marie worked for a vegetable market during the growing and harvest season selling much of the locally grown produce to locals and passersby. The area was known for its cantaloupes and other very superior quality market produce.
Many wonderful holiday gatherings were held at the farm. The food most always consited of Fried Chicken and big bowls of Spaghetti. Cakes ,pies, and every other imaginable food was enjoyed by all. As children we always loved to go get the dipper and bring water up from the well in a bucket and have "COLD" water. They also had a huge barn that we liked to play in. Oh how we all loved to go there to explore and play as children. The women worked in the kitchen, the children played and the men would get a ball- game or horse-shoes started.
