After an illness of many months the life of Mrs. Lucy Hadley Rathbun ended, the patient sufferer lapsed into the peaceful, beautiful sleep on last Tuesday afternoon surrounded by her devoted family in the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Butler in Alexandria. In the death of Mrs. Rathbun Minden loses a noble christian citizen, and her devoted family is robbed of the loving sweet influence of a mother. The remains accompanied by Mr. John S. Butler and family and Morris Rathbun reached here yesterday at noon and at four o'clock yesterday the funeral services were held in her old home. Many friends were gathered there when the impressive words of the burial service, throbbing with the hope of resurrection and breathing of eternal peace was read by Rev. Drake of the First Methodist church and many eyes were dimmed with tears at the loss they had sustained. Friends sang the exquisite hymns that comfort the aching hearts and followed by a large number of loved ones she was laid to rest in the city cemetery beside those gone before. Beautiful and fragrant flowers the tributes of many friends form a radiant mound and in God's acre she peacefully sleeps to await the glorious resurrection morn.
