Youngest of six sons and ten children born to Jordan Anderson 1786 NC - 1847 TN and Hannah Cates 1800 NC - 1877 TN.
Grandson of Philip Jackson Anderson 1750 SC -1812 SC and Wanda Mae Wright 1750 SC -unk, Thomas Cates 1776 NC -1843 TN and Esther Hastings 1780 NC -1864 TN.
Husband of Sarah Jane Stephenson 1845-1876, the daughter of George Dowell Stephenson and Mary Jane Morrow.
They were married 15 Mar 18/66 in Bedford, TN and had the following children:
* Mary Hannah Anderson, Mrs William Coffelt 1867–1957 TX
* George Thomas Anderson 1869 TN –1939 TN
* Samuel Jordan Anderson 1871 TN –1951 TN
