Barbara E. Armer, 75, of Granite City, Illinois died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born June 28, 1936 in Clubb, Missouri, a daughter of the late Arthur Kean and Margaret (Allen) Kean Grafton. She married R.D. Armer in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1964. She retired from the United States Government as a clerk typist in service and supply. She enjoyed her days of quilting and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. Her gentle touch, voice, laughter and cherished memories will remain with us forever. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Carol and Doug Ashcroft of Granite City, Edward Armer of Granite City, Trena Fischer of Granite City, Patricia and Jim Sellers of Edwardsville, Rosie and Bob Mull of Granite City and Robert Armer of Granite City; twenty two grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; half brothers and half sisters, Allen Dale Grafton of Ballwin, MO, Terry Grafton of Fredericktown, MO, Jane Vinson of Arkansas and Tommy Grafton of St. Louis; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, one son, Arthur Ray Armer; four brothers and sisters, James Kean, Bill Kean, Peggy Polm and Kenneth Kean, preceded her in death. Visitation: Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Brent Johnson officiating. Private burial will be at St. Clair Memorial Park in Fairview Heights.
