Earnest Parks, Sr. was born on December 4, 1930, in Saint Louis, Missouri to the union of Anna Belle Miller Parks and Kelly Parks, Sr. of Memphis, Tennessee. He attended St. Louis City public schools. Earnest's employment included railroad work and hotel cook where he developed his passion for cooking. He later worked at Skinner and Kennedy Printing Company as a floor operational manager until retiring in 1993.

Earnest married LaVerne Wise on December 24, 1952 and to this union four sons were born. Earnest was a hardworking man with a sarcastic wit. He had a love of cooking and gardening. He was referred to as "Uncle Earnest" by many relatives and friends.

Earnest, passed away peacefully at home in Saint Louis, Missouri, on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

Preceding him in death were his mother, father, two brothers, Wallace "Uncle Baby" and Kelly Jr. and twin sister, Ernestine, and son, Rodney. Earnest leaves to cherish his memory: his loving, devoted wife of 58 years, LaVerne; three sons, Larry (Patricia), Earnest Jr. (Charlene), and Kelly; loving grandchildren, Ricardo, Christy, LaTisha, Melissa, Tevin and Cody; and one great-grandchild, Raniya; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
