Funeral service for SSG (ret.) Benjamin O. Partin, 82, of Lawton, will be at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Al Potts, pastor, officiating.

A reception for family and friends will follow at the church after the service and burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma

SSG Partin went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 5, 2011 in Lawton.

There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the funeral home.

Benjamin Odell Partin was born on November 14th, 1929 in Johnston County, North Carolina to Delmas Partin and Nolie May Ashworth Partin both of Willow Springs, North Carolina. In Feb. of 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Korea, receiving the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal, among many others. In February of 1961, Benjamin Odell Partin married Doris Marie Capps of Angier and had two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hayes and Nancy Batts. in 1971, he was stationed in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, which became his home. On August 11, 1973, Benjamin O. Partin married Salvadora C. Partin. In February of 1974, he retired from the United States Army and pursued a degree from Cameron University. In 1978, he went to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for over 18 years.

Benjamin Odell Partin was an active member of the community, serving as a missionary for the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church, a member of the Optimist for over 16 years, serving as President, Lt. Governor, and Governor. He also devoted many years to managing the Optimist Oratorical Competitions. He was one of the founding members of the Filipino American Association of Lawton, Fort Sill, serving for over 35 years, including, as President.

Family and God were the most important things in the life of Benjamin Odell Partin. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawton and the United Methodist Men. He is predeceased by his parents, Delmas and Nolie Partin. He is survived by his wife, Salvadora C. Partin, his daughter, Sherry Lynn Hayes and her husband, Jimmy Hayes and their three children, Nicole Hayes, Amber Hayes, and Alex Hayes of North Carolina. His daughter, Nancy Batts, and her husband, George Batts, and their children, Thomas Batts and Patricia Batts, his stepdaughter, Annie McMahon and her husband, Dr. Dalton McMahon and their children, and their children, Dalton McMahon, Jr and his wife, Kris, Christina McMahon-Norman and her husband, Bryan Norman. His stepson, Ephraim Buendia and his wife, Melinda Mallarie, Winnipeg, Canada and their children, Jay Buendia married to Katrina Buendia, and Melissa Buendia, and Daniel Buendia, Benjamin Odell Partin is survived by his brothers, Ronnie Partin married to Susan Partin, and Hershel Partin and wife, Martie Partin, and two sisters, Doris Partin and Joyce Partin. Benjamin Odell Partin's great grandchildren include Justin Norman, Sean Norman, Winter McMahon, Nevada McMahon, Katyana McMahon. Other members of the family include Henry and Sally Herzog of Lawton, Ok., Dinah Lazarte, Ruth Liezl and Dino Tolintino, Matthew Lavender, John Lavender, Sandy Sealy, Becca Sealy, Dallas Sealy, Kathy and David Casey, of Lawton, Ok., Christopher Holder, Maximos Holder, and Christiano Holder, of Anadarko; and many others scattered around the world.
