Thirza Riding Johnson, 86, of 656 N. 1200 W., Orem, died of causes incident to age Monday, May 5, 1975 in an Orem nursing home.
She was born Sept. 9, 1888 in Panguitch, Garfield County, a daughter of Alfred Hale and Mary Elenor Hall Riding. She married Samuel S. Johnson on May 18, 1911 in Panguitch and the marriage was solemnized later in the Manti LDS Temple. He died March 23, 1967.
She worked in the YWMIA for 18 years, taught in the Sunday School for many years, and was active in Relief Society. Mrs. Johnson was a school teacher in Cannonville, Garfield County, for two years. She had been Mother of the Year for Orem.
Survivors include six sons and two daughters, S. Rell Johnson, Spanish Fork; Vard Johnson, Ben Johnson, and Keith Johnson, all of Orem; Nile Johnson, Theron Johnson, and Mrs. C. Glenn (Xenna) Boyer, all of American Fork; and Mrs. Harold K. (Onna) Williamson Provo; 44 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Joseph F. Riding, Provo, and Mrs. Charlie (Dessie) Goulding, Orderville, Kane County.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem, where friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery.
