They had 19 children per the 1900 census with 13 living. I am missing 9 children then and there is gaps in the birth years of several of the children in the 1850s and 1860s which could be explained by early deaths.

Margaret Cameron suspected that Mordecai is the son of Benjamin Almony and Ruth Sutton. Ruth's brother was also Mordecai Sutton. She believed that two Almonys- Mordecai (named on marriages and later censuses and obit and death cert) and Azariah (named on a tombstone for son and in 1850 census) was one person but I show they are not the same son.

His daughter Laura's death cert says her father's middle name is Amos.

OBITUARY: Mr. Mordecai A. Almony. The funeral of Mr. Mordecai A. Almony took place at 2 o'clock yesterday from his late home, 528 Laurens street. Services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Hugh Johnston, pastor of First Methodist Episcopal Church, of which Mr. Almony was a member for many years. The assistant clergyman was Rev. Frank T. Benson, pastor of St. John's Indepedent Methodist Church, Madison avenue and Laurens street. The pall bearers were City Councilman James B. Guyton, Deputy Jail Warden John McGrath, Richard Anderson, Fran E. Bates and Messrs. Shirk and McPherson, members of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Interment was in Loudon Park Cemetery. The floral designs sent as tokens of esteem by friends were many and attractive. Among them was a handsome wreath from Mr. James B. Guyton. Others who sent floral tributes and were present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Rosier, Mrs. Henry Meisner, F.E. Bates, Charles L. Hehl, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Therle, Mrs. Jesse S. Sinns and Mrs. John Matthews. Among the many others present were Mr. and Mrs. William Almony, of Springfield, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sterner, of York, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wareheim, Miss Nannie Almony, Mr. Harry Almony, J. Elmer McCoy, Mrs. John McGrath, and George Albert Almony, the 13-year-old son of the late William F. Almony, and grandson of the deceased. Mr. Almony leaves a widow and three children - Mrs. George A. Killinger, Miss Sarah E. Almony and Miss Lillian W. Almony. Mr. Almony was of English ancestry, but was born near Whitehall, Baltimore county, Md. He was 72 years of age, and had lived in Baltimore sixty-two years. Until two years ago, and for twenty-seven years, he was employed at Druid Hill Park as a carpenter, and was a personal friend of Captain Cassell, for thirty-five years superintendent. He was for many years an active member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the old Lady Grays, the crack military company of Baltimore years ago. At the time of his death, Mr. Almony was a member of the order of Heptasophs. He was held in great esteem by a large number of the citizens of Baltimore.

The muster roll shows him to be (41)? years of age, with brown hair, fair complexion, standing 5'-6" tall. (5th Regiment Armory Records)
