Ethel Rinehardt Barkley
(July 17, 1925 - December 4, 2011)

Ethel Mae Rinehardt Barkley, age 86, of Walker Road, Maiden passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her residence.
Born July 17, 1925 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Rinehardt and the late Jennie Hicks Rinehardt. Mrs. Barkley was a member of Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. She was married for 68 years to her husband, Archie, was a loving mother of seven boys, loved to garden and quilt and above all she was a devoted Christian.

In addition to her parents, husband, Archie Barkley, son, Leon "L.C." Barkley, brother, Charles Rinehardt, three sisters, Clara Lawing, Ora Lee Mathis and Ilene Sommers preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

6 Sons: Danny Barkley and Vonda Krueger of Newton; Randy Barkley and wife, Dianne of Claremont; Philip Barkley and wife, Ann of Maiden; Ruben Barkley and wife, Ricki of Vale; Richard Barkley and Lesa Carr of Maiden; George Barkley and wife, Betty of Maiden.

3 Brothers: Kenneth Rinehardt of Maiden; Frank Rinehardt of Maiden; Darrell Rinehardt of Newton.

2 Sisters: Lucille Settlemyre of Troutman; Maxine Elder of Maiden.

17 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with the Rev. Stephen Rector and Rev. Marion Powell officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.
