Jerry Lindsey Kinnaird, 76, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8th at New Hope Baptist Church West, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, Oklahoma under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Wednesday, December 7th, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jerry was born March 22, 1935 in Chickasha, Ok. the son of O.H. and Chester Kinnaird. He was a graduate of Union Valley High School. He grew up in the Randlett, Ok area, later moving to Meridian, where he lived at the time of his death.

Jerry married Patricia Pauline Graham on February 23, 1957. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church West.

At the time of his death, Jerry was employed with Heavy Truck & Trailer Parts. He was a Sales Representative in the southern areas of Oklahoma for the last 15 years. Prior to this, he was employed with Fitch Welding, Sooner Airgas & Western Welding, always working in Sales. Jerry loved visiting with people and always took care of any needs of his customers. He never met a stranger and made a long lasting impression on those who met him.

In 1969, Jerry became an umpire for fast pitch and slow pitch softball. He called games in the Duncan area for over 25 years. He spent 42 years as a player, coach, umpire and spectator. Jerry played a primary role in developing the Meridian ball fields. He helped organize league tournaments and games for the youth in the area. He was always sharp in appearance, attitude and mind and could be relied on for leadership. He was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association Umpire Hall of Fame in 1996.

He dedicated his time to watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports. Jerry had many friends and a family who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of the home, a daughter Paula Blanton and her husband Bobby of Duncan; three sons, Ron Kinnaird and his wife Melinda of Duncan, Chris Kinnaird and his wife Jeanette of Duncan and Kevin Kinnaird and his wife Jennifer of Duncan; 9 grandchildren, Grant and Jacquelyn Martin; Jerrod, Jacob, Holly, Kenzy, Kale, Conner and Carson Kinnaird; one sister and brother in-law, Faith and Charles Keller of Lincoln, CA; brother in-law Jimmy Hinton of Temple, TX, sisters in-law and their husbands Joyce and Randall Priddy of Ft Worth, TX, Mary and Dennis Trahan of Tecumseh, OK and Kathy and Larry Crawford of Midwest City, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Delores Hinton of Temple, TX and his mother in-law and father in-law, Cozell and Cotton Graham of Temple, Ok.

Pallbearers will be Grant Martin, Billy Martin, Bobby Graybill, Carlton Fancher, Vince Zamora and Joe Knox.

Honorary bearers will be M.T. Hines, Jimmy Morgan, Jim Sanders, Don Shipman, Jimmy Wells and Wayne Wilson.
