Charles was the fourth child of seven born to Charles Ernest Elliott, Sr. and Bertha Elizabeth Herron. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He first married Virginia Fosten Chupp (daughter of Jacob S. Chupp and Wanda Irene Toliver) on 9 Feb 1935. They had 1 son and 1 daughter:

Donald Ernest (1936-2007)
Janet Ann (b. 1939)

He divorced Virginia when his daughter was only six months old and remarried to Patricia Dean Sweet (daughter of George Harrison Sweet and Helena Amy Dyer) on 26 Jun 1946 in Elkhart, Indiana. They moved to California and had 3 children:

Randall Ernest "Randy" (b. 1955)

Duke became a Reverend and pastored a church in California until his retirement. He had nine grandchildren by his first wife and six by his second wife. Incidentally, he died 4 days before his eldest son, Donald.

Charles E. Elliott, 92, of Yuba City died June 21, 2007, at Fremont Medical Center.

Born in New Madrid, Mo., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident for 45 years.

He worked as a pastor for 54 years, retiring from the Queen Avenue Church of Yuba City after 20 years.

He and his wife were the founders of the Mother Goose Nursery School in 1967, and he was the founder in 1991 and current pastor emeritus of the Crossroads Community Church of Yuba City.

Also, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Patricia Elliott of Yuba City; three sons, Randall Elliott of Yuba City, Richard Elliott of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Donald Elliott of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Rita Dilger of Bakersfield and Janet Hughey of Mishawaka, Ind.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the Crossroads Community Church of Yuba City.

Services: Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Community Church, 445 B St., Yuba City. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery.
