Judy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 5, 1935, the daughter of Arthur Bruno and Ruth Louise (Degaillez) Johnson.
Judy attended the Omaha grade schools and graduated from Underwood High School, Omaha, Nebraska.
Judy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson, Kansas., She was a member of the Altar Guild, Teasurer of the Adult Bible Class, both of Trinity Lutheran Church and she taught Sunday School at the Lutheran Church at Grand Island, Nebraska.
Judy was a homemaker and she worked as a Bookkeeper for the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company, Omaha, Nebraska. She worked for 23 1/2 years for Dillons Grocery Store in McPherson where she started out as cashier and retired as head cashier. She then worked for Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas as a CNA for 11 1/2 years.
Judy loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens; spending time working in her yard, feeding her bird's, baking for her husband John and her family, and was a member of the McPherson Red Hat Society
Julia M. "Julie" "Judy" Johnson was united in marriage to John M. Larsen on September 27, 1952 at Omaha, Nebraska. He died on July 10, 2006.
Surviving family members include her children, John M. Larsen, Jr., of McPherson, Kansas, Cindy Lou Rundle and her husband James of McPherson, Kansas, Joni L. VanMeter and her husband Roger of McPherson, Kansas, Pamala S. Hubbard and her husband Ron of Lehigh, Kansas; her sister, Marilyn Christopher and her husband Harold of Stanwood, Washington; 8 Grandchildren- Stephanie Pfeiff and husband Dennis; Beckie Jo Brandes and husband Kyle; James "Jimmy" Rundle; Ryan VanMeter; Lisa Shields and husband Jason, Jennifer Williams and husband Neil; Christopher Hubbard and wife Stacy; and Angie Hubbard; 15 - Great-Grandchildren; Christian, Cadan, Brooke, Betsy, DeShawn, Sequora, Malia, Kaia, Alejandro, Sydney, Macy, Myles, Gracy, Travice, Will, and one on the way; her canine companion Sgt. Grumpy; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and her brothers, Arthur & LeRoy Johnson; and a sister, Anna Boysen.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, KS, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8th, with The Reverend Tim Leaf and Chaplain Bill Cartmell officiating.
Private family Inurnment of cremated remains will be held at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, KS.
