Born April 24, 1908, in Soldier Kan. to August Ludwig and Susie Elmira George Herde, he was a heavy equipment operator and a farmer.
He married Myrtle Lavina Hanes, Feb. 26, 1933, in Piedmont, Kan.
Mr. Herde and his wife moved in 1945 to Parnell (from Enid Okla.), where he farmed and continued working in construction until retiring in 1973. He moved to Ravenwood in 1982 and in 1993 he moved to White Ridge Care Center. He was a member if the Ravenwood Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and three brothers, Arnold Herde, Victor Herde and Karl Herde.
Survivors include one son, Edwin Ellis Herde of Lee's Summit; one daughter Mary Elmira Musick of Sheridan, Wy.; three sisters, Jane Best of Stillwater Okla.; Doris Ratcliff of Savannah Ga., and Marie Bryant of Blackwell, Okla.; four grandchildren and four great-grand-children.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m.,June 23, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit.
The family will visit with friend from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday June 24 at the Ravenwood United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., June 24, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell.
The family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to the Ravenwood United Methodist Church or Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell.
Arrangement are under the direction of Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit.
