Ed graduated high school in 1948. He then attended Washburn College in Topeka, Kan., and Arlington State College in Texas. Ed joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Fite Robert Barnes; three grandchildren: Shae Denker, Faith Scott, and Somer Scott; and one sister Rosemond Barnes.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the Northside Christian Church in Warrensburg, with the Rev. Sid Tiller officiating. Pallbearers will be Troy Brandes, Trevor Brandes, Landon Brandes, Dayles Brandes, Dane Denker, Kye Denker, Bradley Shaver and Sage Barnes.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Interment will be at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Warrensburg American Legion Post 131 and the VFW Post 2513.
