'Dutch' Braden

Formerly of La Grande

1914-2003

Claude Nolan "Dutch" Braden, 89, of Boise and formerly of La Grande, died Dec. 29 in Salem. A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. today at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St. A private burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Braden was born June 17, 1914, to Claude and Nettie Furgeson Braden in Perry. He served in the Army during World War II and in April of 1950 he married Verla Thompson in La Grande.

In 1963 the couple moved to Boise, where he owned Western Glove Distributing Company. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in La Grande and in Boise and was an excellent steelhead fisherman. He enjoyed making things with his hands.

Survivors include children, Kay Frances Braden and Alan Wolfe, both of Boise; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives. His wife died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity in care of Daniels Chapel.
