He retired as a Division Chief, after 33 years serving the Memphis Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Britt; his two daughters, Janet Britt Dennison (Brent) of Olive Branch; and Cynthia Britt Herring (T.J.) of Germantown; four grandchildren, Justin Nelson, Megan Dennison, Jackson Herring, and Britt Herring.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Britt Nelson.
The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett on Monday, December 5, 2011 beginning at 12:30. Funeral Services begin at 2 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Memphis Memory Gardens. The family requests that memorials be sent to either Buntyn Presbyterian Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
