Baptized at Rattlesden, Suffolk, 26 February 1594/5, son of Henry Scott. Came from Rattlesden, Suffolk to Massachusetts Bay in 1634 on the "Elizabeth" of Ipswich & settled in Ipswich. (On 30 April 1634, "Thomas Skott," aged 40, "Elizabeth his wife," aged 40, "Martha Scott," aged 60, "Elizabeth Scott," aged 9, "Abigail Scott," aged 7, and "Thomas Scott," aged 6, were enrolled at Ipswich as passengers for New England on the Elizabeth). Died between 8 March 1653/4 (date of will) and 17 March 1653/4 (date of inventory).
Married in Rattlesden, Suffolk, 20 July 1620 Elizabeth Strutt, baptized at Rattlesden, Suffolk, on 16 May 1594, daughter of Christopher Strutt.
This immigrant was brother of Ursula (Scott) Kimball, wife of RICHARD KIMBALL {1634, Watertown}.
"Martha Scott," aged 60, who sailed to New England with this immigrant, was his widowed mother. No records for her have been found in New England.
Pope and Davis state that this immigrant resided briefly in Cambridge before settling in Ipswich. The Cambridge records pertain to a distinct man of the same name, THOMAS SCOTT {1634, Cambridge}, who did spend about two years in Cambridge and then removed to Hartford.
In 1938 Mary Lovering Holman published an account of the father and paternal grandfather of Thomas Scott. In 1947 Walter Goodwin Davis compiled an account of this immigrant, along with the English ancestry already presented by Holman.
This Thomas Scott has no connection to the Thomas Scott who settled in Hartford with a wife named Ann.
