Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for Roy J Neeley, 86, who died Saturday afternoon, September 1, at his home in Powell. He was a long-time Powell resident and former business owner.

He was born on January 12, 1915 in Liberty Township, Findlay, Ohio, to Charles Josiah and Estella Mae (Essex) Neeley. He was graduated from Liberty High School.

On March 23, 1941, he and Sara Ellen Ewing were married in Indiana. He was a farmer in Ohio before moving to Powell where he was employed at Kopriva Hardware and Elder Hardware then owned and operated Park County Equipment.

He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church and also served as an elder in church. He served on the Powell Hospital District Board and was a member of Odd Fellows, Masons, Kiwanis and Shriners. He also was a Scottish Rite Mason. In the summer of 1983, he served as a Volunteer in Mission at Sheldon-Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and golfing, and his pride and joy was his cabin on the Clark's Fork.

Survivors include his wife Sara of the family home; daughters, Janet Martin and husband Danny of Wheatland, Ann Groutage and husband Daniel of Blackfoot, Idaho, Nancy Roberts and husband Ike of Powell, Peggy Gifford and husband Jim of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Patsy Wirth and husband Larry of Gillette, and Sandy Hatch and husband Bret of Powell; brother, Paul Neeley and wife Mary Louise of Palm Harbor, Florida; cousin Harry Essex Jr. of Powell; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Neeley; a sister, Livonia Rader; and a grandson, Brett J Martin.

Pallbearers at the funeral were grandsons Arthur Groutage, Jeff Feller, Casey Martin, Scott Feller, Paul Gifford, Michael Hatch, Christopher Wirth, David Hatch, and Joshua Wirth. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Christina Ellis, Jera Monroe, Merideth Turner, Jennifer Gifford, and Sara Hatch and sons-in-law Ike Roberts, Danny Martin, Dan Groutage, Larry Wirth, Bret Hatch, and Jim Gifford.

Should friends desire, memorials to the Parkinson's Disease Association of the Shriners Children's Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home made arrangements.
