Ruby A. Akers, 92, of Ashland, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at Midlands Hospital in Papillion.

She was born Jan. 5, 1919 on a farm near Leigh to Henry and Elisa (Schultt) Loseke.

She grew up in the Leigh area and attended country school there.

While she was in her younger years, she worked as a waitress.

She was married to Robert G. Akers on Sept. 13, 1956 in Elko, Nev.

They lived in Omaha and Lincoln for a few years and then moved to Memphis in 1964.

In 1988, they moved into Ashland where she has resided since.

She was a member of the Ashland American Legion Auxiliary Post 129.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Charlie Oppenheim of Chicago, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Paula Akers of Ashland; daughters and sons-in law, D'Ette and Bob Dush of Duncan and Linda and Dennis Dillinghan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Jim Olsen of Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers and sisters, Hulda Kumpf, Martha Englebart, Edward Loseke, Walter Loseke, Lottie Sandar, Reinhold Loseke, Clarence Loseke and Elmer Loseke.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Marcy Chapel.
Interment at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mike Cronican, Mel Horton, Tim Woodcock, Tim Woodcock, Tom Woodcock, Dylan Akers and Dalton Akers.
