Elsie Ruby Wright Acord, age 87, of Alma died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was born June 28, 1916, in Center Ridge. She was a retired nurse's aide at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Van Buren and was a member of the Alma First Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, Price Acord, a daughter, Menna Sue Acord, and a son, Larry Acord, preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Dyer cemetery in Dyer.
She is survived by two daughters, Doris Jordan of Mulberry and Barbara Toney of Spartanburg, S.C.; one son, Darrell Acord of Montgomery, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kyle Phillips, Clayton Wells, Nathan Morgan, Eric Singleton, Bo Vance and Smiley Garcia.
