He was born August 25, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rose and Andy Anderson. He was one of fifteen children. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School.
He married the love of his life, Betty Lewis, on December 6, 1948 at the Rio Grande Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they raised a daughter, Kathy(Alan), and four sons Randy, Tom (Jennifer), Dave (Pam), and Kelly(Terezza). Dad was survived in death by his wife, children, and numerous grandchildren. The strength of his family is a testament to his life.
He served in the Army 11th Airborne during the Korean War. He was responsible for training recruits paratrooping skills. He was a hardworking provider for his family. He loved to meet new people and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime.
Al and Betty are charter members of Anchor Baptist Church, where he was affectionatly known to all the children as "The Candyman". He always had a pocketful of candy to pass out to the children. He had served as President of the American Baptist Mens Association. He was actively involved with Anchor's Prison Ministry until his health prevented him from continuing.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Anchor Baptist Church, 1880 East 5600 South, Holladay, UT 84121 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing at 12:00 p.m.
Interment at Veteran's Memorial Park, Camp Williams, Bluffdale, UT.
