Mr. A. Duane Day
A. Duane Day, 76, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Ashford, Alabama, died December 3, 2011 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 5, 2011 at Bluff Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Ashford with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM in the fellowship hall prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to: Tidwell Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
Duane graduated from Samford University and was an ordained Baptist minister before spending the last 35 years of his career as a manager with the Social Security Administration. After retiring as District Manager of the Sarasota office in 1995, Duane enjoyed many happy hours gardening and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty; son, J. Robert of Sarasota; sisters, Mary Sims and June Singletary of Pensacola and a brother, Linwood Day, Dothan. He is preceded in death by a sister, Quida Belyeu and a son, Douglas.
