On March 31, 1935, Alice was united in marriage to Earl K. Hixenbaugh at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville. Alice was a member of the Plano Wednesday Club, and active with the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Plano Christian Church and attended Drake Avenue Christian Church. Alice farmed along side her husband on their farm north of Plano, Iowa. After Earl passed, Alice moved to Centerville.
She was preceded in death by: her parents: and her husband, Earl K. Hixenbaugh on September 28, 1995.
Alice is survived by: her daughter, Donna Jean Lira of Plano, Iowa; brothers, Zeph Earhart of Centerville, Iowa and Kenneth Earhart of Lincoln, Nebraska; a sister, Evelyn Bear of Centerville, Iowa; grandchildren, Lee Lira and Amber Houser and her husband, Raymond; two great grandchildren, Bryce and Kaitlyn Houser.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Ronald Kinzler officiating. Burial will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery east of Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 2 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 5 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either the Plano Women's Church Group or Drake Avenue Christion Church Women's Group.
