Benjamin was the son of William Rufus Wolfe and Lydia Burton of Sussex County, Delaware. He and his wife Mary Catherine had five children.

One of his daughters was Laura Burton Wolfe (3/28/1869 - 8/26/1895) who married Delphos Price (findagrave: 201842956). Laura hailed from Williamsburg and was known to be an exceptional pianist. She gave birth to one child, Benjamin J Price (findagrave: 182078468), before succumbing to tuberculosis.

Williamsburg, Va., April 26. Benjamin B. Wolfe, aged seventy-eight years, one of the oldest citizens of Williamsburg, died suddenly in the home of his son, B.F. Wolfe, president of the City Council, about 9 o'clock last night. Mr. Wolfe came here many years ago from Maryland, but was a native of Delaware. At one time he was the largest farmer in this section, and was well known throughout the Peninsula. He is survived by one son, B.F. Wolfe, and a number of grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
