Christy Ann Higgins (nee Mickle), age 36, filed for a pension on January 26, 1866 for the loss of her husband, Brown D. Higgins, who was a soldier in Company "B" of the 58th Massachusetts Veteran Volunteer Infantry. He had attained the rank of sergeant. He died of Typhoid fever on July 21, 1865 at his residence in Taunton, Massachusetts. They were married 16 August 1855 at their residence in Rhode Island. He was born in North Providence, Rhode island. His parents were Hiram H. & Waity Higgins. She was born in Nova Scotia. Her parents were James and Isabella Mickle. Her father was a Pastor in the 2nd Universal (Unitarian) Church.
They had 3 children; Henry N. born March 10, 1856, age 9, James L, born February 3, 1858, age 7, and Edgar B., born May 27, 1861, age 4. She remarried on May 14, 1866 to Henry William Padelford who was a Railroad Employee. He was the son of Solomon and Mary A. Padelford. Henry W. Padelford died of Asthma at Taunton, Massachusetts on March 31, 1889. Christy died June 24, 1907.
