Adam was a farmer and stock dealer.
A family story has Adam moving to Coffeyville, Kansas in the summer of 1894. The day he arrived, he went to a local bank to deposit his money. Less than 2 minutes later, the Dalton gang broke through the front doors to rob the bank. The following gun battle where most of the Dalton gang was killed, Adam was stuck by a bullet that went through his left cheek and bottom of his mouth. He recovered from the shooting and promptly moved back to Forest, Clinton County, Indiana. It looks like the family moved West after this. In 1910, Adam and Catharine are listed in Yukon Twp, Canadian Co, OK.
The above information is from Jeff Indiana
Adam and his sons made the Oklahoma Land Run in 1889 and homesteaded north of the Cimmaron River west of Mustang, Oklahoma.
