Jerry Wayne Vance, 59, of Deer, AR, died Wednesday, February 25, 1998, at his home.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, at the Deer High School gymnasium, with Bro. Don Rose officiating. Arrangements are by Coffman Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born October 21, 1938, at Coldwater, KS, a son of Coy C. and Nona Jordan Vance. A resident of Newton County for 9-1/2 years, he had been a music professor at Northeast Louisiana University at Monroe, LA, for 21 years, was active in musical performances at Kansas, Michigan, Louisiana, and Arkansas and was a member of the First Christian Church at Monroe.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Newsom Vance of Deer; a son, Todd Alan Vance of Alexandria, LA; a daughter, Kayla Beth Vance Williamson of Springfield, MO; two brothers, Jack Vance of Coldwater and Jim Vance of Sedalia, CO, and five sisters, Vera Wilkins of Claflin, KS, Virginia Henderson of Salida, CO, Carol Jean Curtis of Sedalia, CO, Bonnie Bond of Brigham City, UT, and Barbara Hall of Hutchinson, KS.
