Daisy Hicks Bond, 99, of 1745 Jack Warner Parkway, Tuscaloosa, AL, died February 3, 2003 at her home. Services will be held at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, Thursday at 2 pm. Burial will be in Magnolia, AR. Rev. Ken Donovant, First Methodist Church will officiate. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Gaines Houston who died in 1947, and her second husband, Floyd Lewis Bond who died in 1966; sister Lula Belle Hicks Bennett; and brother, Walter E. Hicks.

Ms. Bond was a long time resident of Tuscaloosa, originally from Magnolia, AR. She studied Interior Design in Paris, France and practiced as an Interior Designer for over 60 years. She was named a Fellow of the American Society of Interior Design and sponsored the "Daisy Bond Design Competition" for the Alabama Chapter of ASID. She was a long time member and sponsor of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and First United Methodist Church.

Lula Belle Hicks was accepted by the Daughters of the American Revolution on February 1, 1962, National # 187232. At the time of her acceptance, her residence was in Houston, Texas.

DAISY BOND STUDENT PORTFOLIO/DESIGN COMPETITION

The ASID Daisy Bond Student Portfolio Competition is held annually and open to all senior level interior design students from Alabama colleges. The competition is not based solely on quality of work, but also content, presentation, organization, and the comprehensive nature of the student's portfolio.

Winners are chosen by a panel of interior designers and related industry professionals. They receive an engraved ASID trophy and are recognized at the annual ASID Alabama State Conference. All prize money a student receives is matched by ASID and donated to the winning schools' ASID Student Chapter.
