Bernice Huffines, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Woodland Terrace Health Care in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Breckinridge County and a member of Big Spring United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Huffines Sr.; two brothers, David Lucas and Durad Lucas; a sister, Eunice Peach; and her parents, Lewis and Nora Johnson Lucas.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Jr. and Jackie Huffines of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jay W. Lucas of Louisville; four sisters, Joyce Tisheuar, Tina Owens and Bonita Patterson, all of Louisville, and Dorothy Lucas of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Wendy Barbaratto of Nashville, Tenn., and Cindi Huffines of Elizabethtown; three stepgrandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Dr. Rachel Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
