Son of Frederick S. Brockman & Mary Elizabeth Ferrell

Husband of Hiley Patterson - married Feb. 10, 1878 in Cherokee County, North Carolina.

Shortly after their marriage, Emanuel and Hiley moved from Cherokee County, N.C. to Gilmer County, Ga. where they resided for over 20 years. Twelve children were born to them while they were in Gilmer County - three daughters and nine sons. Eight of their sons died from disease in the 1890's.

They moved to Bradley County, Tenn. sometime between 1901-1910. (They were enumerated there on the 1910 U.S. Census.)

In 1912, Emanual bought a large tract of land in Ringgold, Catoosa County, Ga. Three of his five brothers had already relocated to this area. Emanuel and his brother, John, were stone masons by trade. According to family history, they were very good at their trade and built the chimneys and foundations for many homes in the area using field rock.

Emanuel and Hiley lived the remainder of their lives in Ringgold. They are buried at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Graysville, Ga.
